It isn’t easy being Jeppe on the Hill. He used to be a soldier, now he drinks to forget his miserable life: poverty, toil, and an unfaithful wife beating him up. One day he is found sleeping the buzz off by the side of the road by the local baron and his servants. They decide to play a practical joke on Jeppe, dressing him up in the baron’s clothes to see what happens when the powerless are given authority.
Christian Lollike has long been one of Danish theatre’s most prominent and acclaimed artists. As a director and playwright, he has repeatedly caused public debate while also price winning audience successes. His version of Holberg’s Erasmus Montanus was a huge success in Denmark and the expectations are high as he now once again directs on of Holbergs classic comedies in contemporary fashion.
