Descend into the realm of the dead. Surrounded by the spirits of the underworld, you become part of a tale of an unquenchable longing for knowledge and beauty, restraint, and abundance. Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.
ORFEO is a requiem for our time, staged as a full-scale musical installation. Composer Rasmus Zwicki and director and playwright Christian Lollike combine new compositions, original, processed, and looped opera, soundscapes, instrumental music, acting, and audience interaction. A free, contemporary interpretation of Monteverdi’s opera L’Orfeo and the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
The performance is one of the biggest productions ever created by Sort/Hvid. The old slaughterhouse is transformed into a labyrinth universe, where ghosts, embodied by musicians, singers and actors, welcome you like a deceased among them.
Co-production between Sort/Hvid and Copenhagen Phil.
