It isn’t easy being Jeppe. He used to be a soldier, now he drinks to forget his miserable life: poverty, toil, and an unfaithful wife who beats him up. One day he is found sleeping the drunk of by the side of the road by a contemporary artist, having found the motive of his next socially engaged artwork.
Jeppe on the Hill is Christian Lollike’s second reinterpretation of Holberg’s classic comedies from the 18th century for Aarhus Teater with Holstebro Dansekompagni and Enter Ghost.
Christian Lollike’s adaption of Holberg’s classic is sublime reality art about identity, power, war, trauma, and media. – Weekendavisen.
Jeppe on the Hill is phenomenal entertainment with sword swallowers, vampyric queers and cowboys, and that’s the problem (♥♥♥♥♥)
When Jeppe on the Hill is over, I just want to start over and watch the whole thing again. – Jyllands-Posten (☆☆☆☆☆☆)
